Closed 23 Sep 2020

Opened 3 Sep 2020

Overview

With this survey ENTSO-E would like to ask TSOs for feedback, in order to better understand the expected COVID-19 crisis impact in the medium term in their respective country/zone of operation, with a special focus on adequacy.

The survey results will be communicated in the MAF 2020 report, to inform MAF stakeholders on the expected impacts on adequacy and potential divergences from the MAF 2020 results, due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Why your views matter

Year 2020 is marked by the COVID-19 outbreak. On top of the health crisis it caused, it not only adversely impacted the economy in general, but also the energy sector: spot oil prices crashed for a few months and electricity consumption dropped significantly, which in turn even led to negative day-ahead power prices in multiple European countries which imposed a national confinement period. Additionally, social distancing measures made working conditions for all types of energy players more difficult, delaying various types of projects. These impacts are still present, although to a lesser extent compared to the peak of the outbreak.

Predicting accurately the impact of the crisis on the Energy Sector is not possible, but the impact is expected to be significant. With this survey we ask TSOs for feedback, in order to better understand the expected impact in the medium term in their respective country/zone of operation, with a special focus on adequacy. The survey results will be communicated in the MAF 2020 report, to inform MAF stakeholders on the expected impacts on adequacy and potential divergences from the MAF 2020 results, due to the COVID-19 crisis.
